It covers an area of 1500 acres. The <strong>ancient site of Dion<\/strong> was a city surrounded by areas of worship and its settlements were known from the classical era up to early Christian times. Dion was not only a place of worship but also developed into a large significant city. Especially at night, the amazing illumination adds to its grandeur and appeal. It is a picturesque, mountain village, built at an altitude of 850m. The last years it attracts many visitors for winter vacations. It consists of two settlements the <strong>Old Elatochori<\/strong> (old name Skouterna) and the new settlement.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\">At the paved square of the new settlement there is the church of Saints Constantine and Helen and around it there are picturesque local coffee-shops, taverns, the Municipal School and the big building of the Folklore Museum. Methoni is under the municipality. It is known from the Battle of Pydna, which marked the final subjugation of Greece to the Romans. In this battle (168 BC), the last king of Macedonia Perseus defeated by the consul Aemilius Paulus.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Ancient Pydna<\/strong> is situated on the west coast of Thermaikos, between Makrigialos and Kitros. The city emerged as an important commercial center.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Its first name was Kydna and it is not known when it was founded. At an altitude of 500 meters in the east slopes of Mount Olympus, with a view of the sea and close to the beach, it is known for its Macedonian architecture. By taking a walk in the alleys, from the old settlement until the square of Saint Panteleimonas with the perennial plane trees, you can travel back in time and get charmed by the view. It has guest houses, tavernas and is appropriate for hiking.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\">The traditional, local color of the settlement, as well as the small distance from the tourist attractions of Pieria caused its tourism to soar.
